Arariwa

Partner since: 2009

Arariwa’s mission is to improve the lives of low-income families in Peru, especially rural women, through the access to financial services. Arariwa has a strong focus on reaching rural segments of the population that have been historically excluded and marginalized. Arariwa works exclusively in the Cusco region of Peru. According to the World Bank, approximately 22% of Peru’s population is considered rural. In the Cusco region, the rural population is approximately 50%. Moreover, about 27% of Peru’s population lives below the poverty line, while in the Cusco region the population living below poverty is approximately 50%. Arariwa has been a pioneer in establishing access to financial services in rural areas of the Cusco region, which has allowed the organization to serve a segment of the population that would otherwise have no access to credit.
