Priminvestnord is a microfinance institution founded in 2007 in Soroca, Moldova. Priminvestnord is focused on helping to develop local economies by working with borrowers who would otherwise be unable to launch businesses in rural Moldova.
Among its clients, there are entrepreneurs in rural areas who do not have proof of a monthly salary and therefore do not have access to credit from other sources. Female borrowers represent over 60% of Priminvestnord’s portfolio, and almost 80% of borrowers are rural. Due to the large proportion of rural borrowers, about 40% of Priminvestnord’s portfolio is lent for agriculture. The average loan size is just under $800 suggesting that Priminvestnord is serving the lower end of the economic spectrum in the country.
