Confiamos is a small but growing microfinance institution (MFI) in Colombia. It was founded in 2016 in Pasto, in the department of Nariño, Colombia. Confiamos’s mission is to generate trust and provide financial services to contribute to the sustainable development of its borrowers, especially the rural poor of Nariño.  The department of Nariño is located in southwest Colombia and borders Ecuador. Nariño is an area of Colombia affected by violence due to the presence of the drug trafficking business. Drug trafficking has led to widespread violence which particularly affects women and children of the area. The violence is concentrated in coastal areas of Nariño, which Confiamos avoids.
