Latha Bhaskara: The Power of Investing with Purpose

Latha became Envest’s newest board member in September 2025 after serving on the advisory board for two years.  She is passionate about using her investment experience to create meaningful impact. Latha was introduced to Envest Microfinance while conducting research on microfinance organizations. “I was inspired by Jon Bishop’s vision and his pursuit of greater financial inclusion for all. Jon and his leadership team’s unwavering commitment to reducing poverty, empower women and people from marginalized groups, and advancing economic equality is remarkable. When Jon asked me if I was interested in joining Envest Fund’s Investment Committee, and then a board role, I gratefully accepted both opportunities. I enjoy offering insights from my experience to support Envest Microfinance’s incredible mission.”

Latha has twenty years of professional experience in the commercial real estate industry. She earned a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois and an MS in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in New York. Most recently, she was a Director in Asset Management at Harrison Street Asset Management, a prominent investment management firm focused on alternative real assets. There, she managed and oversaw the investment performance of a portfolio of senior housing communities representing nearly $4 billion in value. Latha has been involved with several asset types over her real estate career including office, industrial, retail, residential, hospitality, and infrastructure. Prior to real estate, she worked in corporate finance in the banking industry. She is based in the Chicago area, where she lives with her husband and two sons and values time with her family and community.

Latha believes in the power of investing with purpose. “Investing is very rewarding when it delivers both profits and positive impact. I’m excited to help drive Envest Microfinance’s mission to empower underserved communities, promote economic equality, and help people build better lives through thoughtful, purpose-driven investing.”
