Envest Finances School in Uganda
by Sarah Lesar

In September, I had the privilege to do my very first travel through Uganda with my colleagues Elizabeth and Annette. I was beyond excited to finally visit microfinance institutions I only knew from Zoom calls. One of them is Mateete SACCO which is working with Envest to finance a local primary school called Apex. These loans are vital for building classrooms, purchase vans, and buying books and food. Education has been pivotal in my life, so I was thrilled to see that students, including those with disabilities, can learn and that their community supports that journey. Read more

Investor Spotlight

Meet Mel Miller – our investor for the last 5 years, and now serving on Envest’s advisory board and investment committee. Put Your Money To Good Work

Hannah Katana Lule (pictured with her husband and daughter) is a 42-year-old businesswoman in Kampala, Uganda. She moved to the city as a teenager, but was not able to open her own shop until 5 years ago when she got a loan from DMF, an Envest partner. She named her shop Lule Investments, a true family business. The income from the shop puts food on the table for her five children. It also made her dream of becoming a homeowner come true.

Envest’s funds currently provide loans to over 15,000 microentrepreneurs in 12 countries. With an average loan size of just $700 an investment of $50,000 could offer access to finance for 70 people. Contact us to learn more about available investment opportunities.

We've moved!

On October 1 we said goodbye to our office on Wilson Street where Envest has operated for over five years. In the photo, Jon Bishop, Envest founder and CEO, is opening the door to the new office on Madison’s beautiful east side.

Our new address is: 621 N. Sherman Avenue, Suite B19, Madison, WI 53704 USA. The team continues to work remotely most of the time and will meet in the new office in December for a strategic planning session.
Global Impact
We are delighted to announce that Envest Microfinance was recertified as a B Corp last month. This designation was retained with a higher overall score after a rigorous impact evaluation process administered by B Lab, a global non-profit. To obtain the certified B Corp status, businesses must demonstrate their specific contributions to economic, environmental, and social progress in the last three years. Envest’s designation as a certified B Corp recognizes our commitment to reducing poverty and inequalities and places us among thousands of socially and environmentally focused companies across the globe.
