SARPARAST (formerly named ASTI) is a small microfinance institution serving rural communities in northern Tajikistan. The organization was established in 1995 as a non-governmental organization (NGO) offering various development services including health and education programs. Its microfinance services started in 2000. A majority of SARPARAST’s borrowers (74%) live in rural areas, and commerce and consumer loans form most of the organization’s portfolio.
